Lavender

My Aunt Mary Louise turned me on to lavender. I always hunted for her lavender Yardley soap that she loved and my mom loved to give to her. Now she loves my lavender soap! :) I made it and perfected my recipe for her. A nice photo of my lavender soap. See my lavender soap @ the bottom of the post.

I swear lavender has some addictive qualities. I have friends (like my beautiful friend Michelle from the post below) that are addicts! I love lavender...but I am not what I would call a lavender junkie. Until today.
Today I got a new shipment of organic lavender flowers in from an etsy shop in Portland. I wanted to try out some of his supplies (check his shop out: http://www.etsy.com/shop/NaturalEarthOils) They were so fresh and it has been the day from hell and I caught myself huffing the smell of the flowers?! All I can say is...ahhhhhh I needed that.

The word lavender comes from the Latin root lavare, which means "to wash." Lavender may have earned this name because it was frequently used in baths to help purify the body and spirit. Lavender is often used as a remedy for a range of ailments from insomnia and anxiety to depression and fatigue.
BENEFITS OF LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL:

1. reduces nervous tension
2. thought to aid in  relieving pain
3. enhances blood circulation
4. calms the nerves
5. has anti-septic and anti-fungal properties

Here is a list of other Esty lavender goodies I put together: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4d55d02d71ec8eefc0f92cb5/stress-less-lavender?ref=pr_treasury
